So far this year has been a big growth year for the firm and our team. Since January we have added six staff accountants and one tax manager to our team.
Here is a little about our newest team members, from the first to most recently hired.
Blake Wood, Staff Accountant
Blake started his education at Arizona State University studying electrical engineering. After two years at ASU, Blake joined the US Marine Corps and served for four years in the infantry. During his time in the US Marine Corps, Blake had two deployments, one to Iraq and one on a Navy boat in the Pacific.
After his service in the Marines, he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at California State University Northridge. At MKW, Blake works in tax and audit.
Outside of work, Blake enjoys spending time with his wife and their two-year-old daughter. He also enjoys weightlifting and playing video games.
Because of his time serving in the Marines, Blake has been to various countries, including Kuwait, Iraq, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, East Timor, Dubai, and Guam.
Blake is a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. It is a non-profit that raises awareness and enlists the public's aid for the needs of injured service members.
Gabriel Hernandez, Staff Accountant
Gabriel earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from California State University - Los Angeles. At MKW, he works on tax and on cloud accounting projects.
Outside of work, Gabriel enjoys camping (at least once a year at Yosemite National Park), hiking, cycling, and skydiving on his birthday.
Gabriel is a supporter of A Place Called Home. It is a South Central Los Angeles based non-profit that serves as a safe haven for underserved youth of the area.
Jessica Yi, Staff Accountant
Jessica earned a bachelor's degree in economics with a minor in business management from University of California Irvine. She also earned a master's degree in accountancy from California State University Fullerton. Prior to working at MKW, Jessica worked in various accounting roles in the entertainment advertising industry. At MKW, Jessica works on tax and cloud accounting projects.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys traveling, attending music shows, and viewing art. She is also a connoisseur of fine coffee, craft beer, and whiskey.

Nancy Avila, Staff Accountant
Nancy earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an accounting emphasis at Cal Poly Pomona. After graduating, she worked for the LA Chamber of Commerce in the accounting department. At MKW Nancy works on cloud accounting projects and tax.
Outside of work, Nancy enjoys reading, painting, and anything that has to do with nature. She loves trees. Below is a picture of her (gray hoodie) on a family vacation in Colorado.
Nancy is a big supporter of animal rescue and earth preservation.
Alison Borresen, Staff Accountant
Alison earned her bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Minnesota. Prior to working at MKW, she worked at a law firm in various roles in the A/P department up to an analyst. At MKW, Alison works in tax and audit.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys experiencing new restaurants, visiting museums, watching baseball games, and exploring new neighborhoods.
Natalie Muraciov, Staff Accountant
Natalie earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and accounting information systems from University of Southern California. After graduation, she worked as an IT consultant. Then she worked for the LA County as a fraud investigator and later an IT Analyst. At MKW, Natalie works in tax and audit.
Outside of work, Natalie enjoys climbing mountains (recent ones include Mt. Rainier and Mt. Whitney). Her largest climb was the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. She is also an avid skier, rock climber, reader, and wine & cheese night hostess.
Natalie supports the National Ski Patrol. She is currently a volunteer Ski patroller and the Mountaineering Advisor for Southern California.
Kim Abe, Tax Manager
Kim earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in taxation from Northern Illinois University. She has also earned her Certified Public Accountant designation. Kim has more than 15 years of public accounting experience, including experience working at a "Big 4" firm (Deloitte). At MKW, she manages tax planning services and tax returns.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys hiking with her husband, trying out various types of ethnic restaurants, and cheering on the LA Kings.
Kim is a supporter of the Pasadena Convalescent Aid Society and the Korean Disability Church.

Hector Olguin is the marketing manager at Milam, Knecht & Warner, LLP. When he is not thinking about marketing, he is planning his next travel adventure with his wife and two rambunctious boys.
