Staff Accountant

Full-Time Position
Remote/In-person, Glendale, CA/Hybrid

About the position:

We are currently seeking full-time professionals with 0-4 years of public or industry accounting experience at various levels.  New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Preparation of a variety of tax returns for entities and individuals, spanning multiple industries
  • Tax planning & projection preparation
  • Tax issue research & strategy development
  • Assist with audit, review, and compilation engagements
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • 0-4 Years of general public accounting experience
  • BS degree in Accounting or equivalent coursework
  • Highly organized, ability to work well under pressure, strong time management skills enabling you to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Outstanding interpersonal and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Customer service orientation
  • CPA license or CPA candidate is preferred, but not required
  • Strong background in MS Excel
  • Experience with CCH Axcess software (Tax, Practice Management, Planning, and Document), ProSystem Fx software (Engagement), Axcess Workflow, and QuickBooks is beneficial, but not required.

About Our Hiring Process

At Milam, Knecht & Warner we base our selection process on the Topgrading philosophy, and have found it significantly increases our chances of hiring top performers who fit our organizational culture.

Topgrading is a thorough process of collecting detailed information about your education and job history with a Career History Form. Completing the Career History Form is the first step to determining whether you will be a good fit for the position in question. You can expect to spend about an hour completing this form, depending on the position for which you are applying. If it appears as though you could be a great fit for the position, you will eventually participate in a chronological, in-­‐depth, and structured Topgrading Interview. The interview is a cornerstone of our process, as it helps determine who has the potential to be successful and happy in our organization. It also provides valuable information to assist us in providing a smooth onboarding experience.

The final step of our selection process is to conduct reference calls with your former bosses, which we will ask you to arrange for us.

Compensation

$55,000 - $75,000 per year DOE
